November 2025 marked the eighth anniversary of UU Wellesley Hills' Black Lives Matter monthly vigil. Back in October of 2017, our Social Action Council decided to hold a vigil as a way of expressing our outrage in response to deeply disturbing media reports about police brutality against Black lives, and about racial profiling, voting restrictions, and mass incarceration. We wanted to ignite important conversation about white supremacy and institutional racism within our community. For eight years, we have certainly given people something to talk about! Our vigils are held on the first Sunday of the month at noon in front of 309 Washington Street.
