Update from the Advocacy & Witness Team at UU Wellesley Hills

Updated: Nov 7

Member Molly Walsh has shared some hopeful news about the status of the End of Life Options Act in support of Medical Aid in Dying. Both the Senate bill (S.1486) and the House bill (H.2505) have passed the Joint Committee on Public Health and are now with the Joint Committee on Healthcare Financing. This has progressed more quickly than in past legislative sessions which is hopeful.

Molly continues to serve as coordinator for the UU Mass Action task force on this issue; in that role, she provided in-person testimony before the Joint Committee on public health last spring and has attended 3 lobby days.

The latest poll shows 79% of Massachusetts voters support this legislation; very recently, the End of Life Options Act passed in Illinois and is now on the governor's desk.
